St. John's Presbyterian Chuch was built in 1928 by the Shaffer Bros, with the assistance of church members. Local red sandstone from Gibson quarry was donated by John Gibson, owner of the quarry. Left-over stone was buried and later used to make an addition on the north in 1957. After 1925 the Presbyterian Church on Main Street became a United Church when the Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational Churches united, however the people in this congregation decided to remain Presbyterian.
