Overlooking treetops rising from the banks of the Twenty Mile Creek valley,  the Jordan Historical Museum  sits in the heart of the historic settlement of Jordan.  The park-like setting, studded with the headstones of an old cemetery, boasts two very special historic buildings.

Visit the stone school house, built in 1859, and restored to how it looked in 1908. You can choose your side to sit on (boys or girls), learn your ABCs and always, beware the teacher's cane!

Across from the school house is the venerable and utterly fascinating Fry House.  Built in 1815 by Mennonite settlers from Pennsylvania, the house was designed according to medieval German architectural style.  Come into the "kuche", warm up at the 70 ton stone chimney, and see what makes this house a one-of-a-kind fascinating gem.
 
Don't forget to come on into the Heritage House to get a more general overview of the histories of Lincoln's various communities.  Find out why Vineland never got named Maple Corners, and why Campden was also known as Moyer's Corners.  While you're learning all that, check out the Fraktur Room, a special permanent exhibit featuring one of Canada's best collections of fraktur folk art.  Charming, whimsical, and completely one of a kind, fraktur art is rare and a favourite of collectors in the know.
 
Visit the Museum for a big dose of heritage fun on Pioneer Day!  A permanent part of Jordan's  community life since 1967 , it's always held the Saturday before Thanksgiving.  Pioneer Day is  a one-day festival full of music, dance, foods, and hands-on activities, all with a heritage twist.  Bring your kids and your grandparents, the day is perfect for everyone!

Need some fresh air after all you've learned?  Visitors are welcome to bring a lunch and some hiking boots; the Twenty Valley Trail passes through the back of the property and follows a 45 minute path up to Ball's Falls Conservation Area.
