General Information

Between the once bustling Welland Canal by-pass know known as the Welland Recreational Waterway and the current Welland Canal lies a park known as Merritt Island. The trail is located in the downtown of Welland, a once popular manufacturing district. On the island visitors will find themselves on a long tree-lined path overlooking a the still-waters of the Welland Recreational Waterway, a scenic display of a once vital gateway for large ships.

Facilities

Public washrooms, rest areas, benches, boat docks, picnic facilities, parking areas, grassy areas. It is wheelchair and stroller accessible.
